They claim that evolution is not possible because it would require the creation of a miracle, and the founders of modern science eschewed miracles for fear of losing credibility.
Some creationists accept both naturalistic evolution and special creation, and call their position "theistic evolution." This is also known as "continuous evolutionism" or the "evolution of the created species." The theory says that God creates species from scratch and then allows them to change over time. These evolutionary changes eventually will result in new species similar to the original.
Others believe that God created the universe and all living things during a single event, referred to as the Great Flood. These creationists hold that all species were created at the same time and then gradually evolved.
